JOHN 9 – Jesus Healed a Man Born Blind (TPT)
There was a man born blind and many people passed by him each day. They had grown accustomed to seeing him there and he had all but become invisible to those around him. But as Jesus walked down the street, He noticed this blind man.
There is no mention of this man asking for anything, only Jesus’ conversation with His disciples as they questioned Him about this man’s blindness.
“His disciples asked him, “Teacher whose sin cause this guy’s blindness, his own, or the sin of his parents?”
“Jesus answered them, Neither. It happened to him so that you could watch him experience God’s miracle….
As long as I am with you my life is the light that pierces the world’s darkness.”
This unnamed blind man had a ‘suddenly’! There he is, probably sitting on a corner – and hearing footsteps come near him, he overhears the conversation of Jesus and the disciples.
Suddenly there is movement, and the sound of spitting, and now fingers are touching his eyes – and these fingers are putting clay onto his eyes – it says “ He anointed the blind man’s eyes with the clay.”
Anointed – not just touched!
Adam was created from dust, and from dirt combined with Jesus’ Holy Spit, would come forth the release of a creative miracle – eyes that see!
Let’s press in a little more to what took place this day of this man’s miracle –
Jesus had said to this man after he had anointed his eyes with the anointed clay –
“Now go and wash the clay from your eyes in the ritual pool of Siloam. So he went and washed his face and as he came back, he could see for the first time in his life.”
He responded immediately – there was no hesitation, he did not question this man who stopped, spit, touched and told him to go and wash. He also immediately went back to Jesus, and it was when he returned that he could see!
This man had never seen – suddenly his eyes are opened! He is staring into the face of a stranger, a man he had never met, a man who did not pass him by, but noticed him and stopped. And this blind man would have a life changing encounter.
The people of the town were astounded, wondering if this was the blind man now walking around – seeing? “But is looks just like him – it has to be him! All the while the man kept insisting, I’m the man who was blind.”
The people would then bring this man who now sees to the Pharisees.
The pharisees questioned him with great emotion about how he received his sight.
“A man anointed my eyes with clay, then I washed and now I can see for the first time in my life”.
The Pharisees did not celebrate with him – they did not sit in wonder and awe at what had just taken place in this man’s life. Instead, they were angry, upset, abusive and insulting.
“They asked, ‘Who do you say he is – this man who opened your blind eyes?’
“The healed man replied, ‘I have no idea what kind of man he is. All I know is that I was blind and now I can see for the first time in my life.’”
They threw him out! They did not want to hear his testimony. They did not want to acknowledge the miracle that was standing in front of them. Their religious ways and darkened hearts caused them to be blinded to the creative wonder that had just taken place.
Jesus is again about to reveal – Mercy Wrapped in Truth!
He heard about this horrendous treatment of this man and went and found him.
Simply amazing – first He had noticed this man, then healed him, and now He went and found him.
“When Jesus learned they had thrown him out, he went to find him and said to him,
’Do you believe in the Son of God?’”
“The man whose blind eyes were healed answered, ‘Who is he, Master? Tell me so that I can place all my faith in him’.”
“Jesus replied, ‘You’re looking right at him. He’s speaking with you. It’s me, the one in front of you now.”
He had opened his eyes so that he could see the natural world and now opened his spiritual eyes to SEE HIM – to BEHOLD THE LAMB!
And to fellowship with Him and to reveal Himself to him, this one who did not see in the natural or spiritual – was totally healed and would now follow Him.
“Then the man threw himself at His Feet and worshipped Jesus and said, ‘Lord, I believe in You!”
Once a blind beggar, now a follower of Jesus– a child of God. A young lamb that would be loved, cared for by the CHIEF SHEPHERD – TRUTH WRAPPED IN MERCY!!
On display again!!! Behold The Lamb!
